Mini Notebook Considerations
I was in Bestbuy one day and I noticed the dell mini 9 notebooks computer. After a quick scan In had to have one, not because I need a notebook, I already have two, but because it was so small, It was great for when I was out of the office and it's like carrying a paper back.
It's convenient to use almost anywhere.
Once I used my dell, I loved it, so I figured I should check online for accessories, only to find I could have had the 16GB Sold Sate hard drive model, which was twice the memory for a couple bucks more. So I took back my dell to Bestbuy, I asked if they had the 16 GB model, they didn't, I completed return.
Before making my purchase online I though Maybe if I wait a couple months they might come up with the 32GB Solid State hard drive memory.
Mini Computer From ASUS,
A few days later I decided to check out Staples and see what they had for mini computers. The salesman told me about the Eee Pc From ASUS, it had a regular Hard Drive as compared to the solid state hard drive on the dell.
The hard drive as a whapping 140GB enough to hold all my files; it even came with a caring pouch, Very Important when you're on the run.
It's a great business tool, I'm actually writing this post on it at this movement.
It's funny I think that I probably have sold at least 10 of these things just by strangers walking by in malls or in other public places I'd be asked questions like, "how do your like it?, does it stand up to the full size notebooks, Is that A real Computer?
I should have created a website and gave out cards when someone asks, It would have been easy to make sales that way.
Anyway here are some tips for mini notebooks,
1. Not High Powered Computers
These are not high powered computers, so you won't want one if you're dong graphic design or similar resource hogging software. This isn't for you.
2. Figure your storage space
You need to figure out how much hard drive space you'll need in the next 3 years. With the 16 GB model I mentioned above that did not include the operating system, so after the operating system I only had about 8 GB free.
3. Keyword layout is important.
The Eee PC's problem is they share the "\" key with e shift key and I end up pressing the "\" key a lot and my documents look like this "\\\\\\\\\\\\he way" other than that the keyboard is ok, but that one issues bugs me a lot, why share the Shift key with the backspace key, shift is a lot more used, than the backspace, and the shift key is always a large key even on notebooks.
4. Shine or Flat Screen
I noticed a couple screens had the shinny screen which I like, but the salesman pointed out if you are in the car, you may wan t the non shinny screen, because of reduced glare and better visibility. Good point!
Keep in mind these are my experience
These are the issues I experienced with the mini computer. It's a great business tool and will help you stay organized, and keep those ideas recovered when your running errands or out for short periods of time.
By the way if I know I'll be out for a few hours in one location, I'll take my, full size notebook because it's easier to type and bigger screen, Plus I can update my website on the my full size notebook.
That's The Way I See It
