Palm Pre Multitasking and Speed Test Video Demonstration

Alright folks, here’s what was lacking on most all review sites: a good demonstration of the Palm Pre’s multitasking capabilities. In the video, I’m opening some commonly used apps and switching between them via the Card view.

As you can see, there was very little slow down, even after multiple apps were opened. Try doing the same on a Windows Mobile phone and you’ll be depressed. As much as I love my Touch Pro, its hardware and OS can’t hold a candle to the Pre.

Another cool thing I noticed about the Pre’s multitasking is that switching to Card view does not simply “pause” the application. Things like YouTube and web pages will continue to load in the background, just like a regular PC. A lot of people miss this, but that’s one feature I greatly applaud the Palm engineers for including.

Great demo. My Nokia N85 would die with all those apps open…
