Two Applications You Need, But Can Never Find

Here are two programs that you’ve probably needed at one time or another, but have had a hell of a time finding on Google. Google is great, except when it returns suspicious looking “free” software sites for your search. Not only that, but the results are usually for shareware, not freeware.

Ant Renamer - batch file renamer

Try searching for “batch file renamer” in Google and you’ll see what I mean about hard to find. I’ve always had a hell of a time finding a legitimate renaming program on Google. I finally found Ant Renamer which is incredibly lightweight, powerful, and free!

WinDirStat – Shows/sorts directories by size

Hard drives have finite space and will inevitably fill up. So when spring cleaning comes around, it sure would be handy to know which directories are taking up the most space. Or, maybe you have limited space on your laptop and need to get rid of temporary files. In one instance, WinDirStat helped me find a 12GB folder full of Symantec Corporate AV temporary files!
