Here are some great registry tweaks for your Touch Pro. There are a number of great hacks like how to get 4 icons in a row, extend battery life, disable the SMS sent notification, how to unlock more camera modes, and more.
You can use a registry editor such as PHM Regedit to make the required changes. If you use a registry editor, make sure to soft reset your device after you apply the registry changes.
Alternatively, you can use the .cab files I have made to install each hack individually. Make sure to install the .cab files to the main (device) memory and soft reset your device after you’re done installing.
Here is a .cab file will all the tweaks below included. Use this if you want all the tweaks below to be applied all at once.
4 icons in a row in your Programs and Settings folders.
- Add new key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\IconConfig
Under the IconConfig key, add these values: - “HorizontalIconSpacing” Decimal Value “112″
- “VerticalIconSpacing” Decimal Value “115″
- “IconTitleFontSize” Decimal Value “6″
.cab for 4 icons in a row
Disable SMS Sent Notification
Change the value HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\SMSNoSentMsg from “0″ to “1“
.cab to disable SMS sent notification
3 More Camera Modes
This will unlock the “Sport”, “Burst”, and “Video Share” options of the camera application.
- Navigate to HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P6
- Change “Enable” from “0″ to “1“
- Do the same for the P8 and P9 keys under HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera
.cab file for more camera modes
Smaller Fonts
Makes the menu and title fonts smaller so they take up less room on the screen.
- Navigate to HKLM\System\GDI\SYSFNT
Change “Ht“ to “900″ in decimal value - Navigate to HKLM\System\GWE\Menu\Barfnt
Change “Ht“ to “800″ in decimal value - Navigate to HKLM\System\GWE\Menu\Popfnt
Change “Ht“ to “700″ in decimal value
.cab file for smaller fonts
Increase Battery Life
- Navigate to HKLM\Comm\AsyncMac1\Parms
- Change “DisablePowerManagement” to “0“
- Do the same for the Irsir1\Parms, L2TP1\Parms, and PPTP1\Parms keys as well.

Hey there. I applied the smaller fonts tweaks and it looks great. I hated the huge font used in the menu popups on the touch pro.
Quick q though — any idea how to reduce the size of the arrows and dots in the popup menus also? They remain the same size after the tweak and are disproportionate to the text and sometimes get clipped etc. – i.e. in the case of a menu item with the dot to indicate it is selected like in an email message for the menu View -> Text Size -> Medium…
Thanks,
Mike
This programs are useful, especially the battery life one.
Thanks
These programs(damn typos!)
Mike, I don’t think there is a way to reduce the size of the check marks, arrows, etc in the pop up menus. Sometimes they do get clipped a little, but you can usually tell what’s checked. It takes some getting used to, but a small price to pay for me
My question is how do you add the new key??? how do you write the IconConfig inside the shell?
4 icons in a row in your Programs and Settings folders.
Add new key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\IconConfig
Under the IconConfig key, add these values:
“HorizontalIconSpacing“ Decimal Value “112?
“VerticalIconSpacing“ Decimal Value “115?
“IconTitleFontSize“ Decimal Value “6?
Dave – you have to use a registry editor like PHM Regedit. Then you browse to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell and add a key called IconConfig. You’ll then see a folder called “IconConfig”. Then, you add the values.
The easiest way to do this is to use the .cab file. Download it to your phone, run it, and install it to your main memory. Then, soft reset your phone and you’ll be set.
First, let me start by thanking everyone for their comments and this site for all its tips and tweaks as some have tremendously helped.
Now to my question:
Does anyone know of a way to access and edit my contacts from my computer? Or a way in particular to delete more than one contact at a time?
The reason is b/c somewhere in linking my phone up with ActiveSync and my computer, it multiplied all of my contacts by 10 in most cases. So I had 120 contacts, and now I have 1200. The only way I can find to delete them is to manually click edit on each one and go to delete contact. This would be very very timely as you know if I wanted to do that to get my phone back with each contact listed only once.
Sorry about all the rambling, just wanted to try and make it make sense.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

If yu choose this option do you have to down load and run the PHM Regedit? I loaded the PHM Regedit file and I can not run the program. What am I doing wrong?
Hey, I appreciate all of these tweaks. Can you explain what the battery life hack is going to do? I mean what exactly are we changing with it?
DJ – I found those tweaks on the PPCGeeks.com forums. Those tweaks disable the power management for certain network/communication features – PPTP and L2TP are VPN protocols. I believe it works something like this: the tweaks disable whatever polling was going on before, resulting in less operations and less battery usage.
I downloaded the cab files but i can’t seem to figure out how to run it, and exactly what file to save to, please help. Thanx
nevermind I got it…
LOVE IT! thanx
Stan,When you say install it to the Main Memory, you mean like not to the Card? And could you show the tree to the Main Memory?
Stan, Also,I did get the .cab to the My Device folder in my phone,so then I just click on the “SetUp” in the .cab and thats it? Sorry for all the questions.
Wheres the Main Memory?
Oh Well!
Aha! I finally got it!!!!! Sorry for all the dumb questions. Thanks for the tips.
These are great, but i dont think my camera modes are working
And i dont see my iconconfig folder?
I installed the 4 icons tweek and it did shrink them but there is still only 3 icons and then empty space in the 4th column…I am running mighty rom 4.16
TB- i had the same issue, its because in mightyrom 4.16 the default scrollbar size is too large & takes up too much screen space to allow the 4 rows to display right. use advanced config to set the scrollbar width to 13 & your 4 columns will display just fine.
I downloaded the .cab to extend battery life. I tried to run the program but it says the “file cannot be opened it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found.” I reinstalled it and tried again but it will not work…any one know how to correct this issue?
i’ve just purchased the Touch Pro and want to apply the tweaks, but i’m not computer savvy and just don’t understand what i’m exactly supposed to do…also, where is the GB card located so that i can upgrade? please help an idiot enjoy her phone more……..
hey thanks that was very helpfull
kabuk1 – how do you use advanced config to change the scrollbar width to 13?
Eric, What about the other battery tweak mentioned on PPCGeeks.com? Is it also included in your cab file?
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Battery]
change from 5000 to 20000
Does anyone know how to “undo” these tweaks. I am having hard time getting use to the smaller font. I installed the full 4 tweaks cab at one time. I don’t have the PHM regedit either. thanks in advance!
Jason – No, it’s not in there.
nfisk – Go to your “Remove Programs” in your Settings and uninstall the .cabs.
Does anyone know how to restore the navigation control/wheel on HTC FUZE , up & down arrow.. ?
where is the main memory and where do you download the .cab file too ?
ive seen 3-4 people ask this question but yu havent answered it
Will these tweaks work on the HTC Touch Pro 2 from US Cellular also? Don’t want to download them if I can’t use them.
Thanks
trying to do the tweaks for the extend battery and I’m getting an access denied message…How do I get around this? Also too the tweak for the 4 icons in a row..I downloaded a .cab file for it and I can’t seem to find it. The values in the registry, however have changed, but I still have 3 icons.
