This guide will focus on the “Perks” in Call of Duty 5 and explain why there are only a few core perks worth using. Also, since I play only team deathmatch, that is where my perspective will lie; however, these strategies can be applied to other game types/modes as well. This is my opinion and many will disagree. Everybody has their individual play styles which dictate different setups. This is just to give open minded players another perspective if they wish.
First lets ask ourselves, what is the primary goal in a TDM game? To kill as many people as you can while sustaining little to no deaths. Therefore, perks should compliment either killing (offense) or sustaining life (defense).
Now let’s narrow it down a little more. “The best defense is a good offense.” – A popular saying which is true in many circumstances, including Call of Duty 5. Here’s the logic: If you’re pressuring your opponent by attacking, they cannot do anything but defend themselves. By defending themselves, it is impossible to launch an offensive campaign, therefore, they eventually lose. All in all, offensive perks are what you should be aiming to use, in other words, use perks that aid in killing. Perks alone won’t win you the game, you also need strategy. As long as you can put pressure on your enemy, you can almost control and predict their movements, which gives you a HUGE advantage.
Here are my preferred perks for each category:
Perk 1
Bandolier- This is a must with any fully automatic weapon. An exception to this rule is the M1A1 carbine, simply because the gun has low recoil and a high magazine capacity which would make you want to squeeze off more rounds than you should. Why the bandolier? Let’s see, an additional 100 or so rounds of ammo. In hard core mode, 1-2 rounds can kill a person so you’ll have the potential to kill 100 people. You can’t come close to that with any other perk. Nothing is worse than running out of ammo on your 6th kill only to be killed because you ran out of ammo, which is why you would want the bandolier. Also, what is the main cause of death in Call of Duty? Guns and bullets!
Satchel Charges – These rule for tank killing. Aim for the rear armor. I find the satchel charges to be much more effective and stronger than rockets. The only downside is that you must be within throwing distance of the tank. However, firing a rocket gives away your position so it evens out. Satchel Charges can also be good for clearing out rooms or what not, but use them sparingly since you’ll probably get shot while trying to plant the charge.
Bouncing Betty – ONLY if you’re sniping. ONLY! I see no other reason to use Bouncing Betties with any other class because you are supposed to be on the move. A sniper usually camps, gets a few kills, then moves – all by himself. Bouncing Betties are all a sniper can rely on for detection and support.
Perk 2
Stopping Power – I’ve though long and hard about this and I’ve come to the conclusion that Stopping Power should be the only Perk used in the Perk 2 slot for a variety of reasons.
- Weapon damage is increased. This is especially important when playing in hard core mode. Stopping Power will shave off 1-2 rounds needed to kill a person depending on the gun. Those 1-2 rounds make a huge difference. Even with bolt action rifles, I still use Stopping Power because it almost guarantees a one hit kill. Without Stopping Power, it may take two shots to bring someone down with a bolt action rifle, which leaves you open to be shot while cycling the next round. Rifles like the M1A1 and M1 take 1-2 shots to kill a person with stopping power, depending on the distance and impact point. They are usually one hit kills, but occasionally you’ll have to hit twice. If you didn’t have Stopping Power, you’ll find yourself needing two hits to kill more often than one hit to kill. In the middle of a fast paced firefight, where both of you are getting hit by each other, a one hit difference does make a difference.
- Duration of the perk; Stopping Power is active the entire game and is utilized in every round you fire. Perks like “Gas Mask” are only activated when there is Tabun gas in the vicinity. Sleight of hand is only active when you reload. Camouflage is only active when there’s an enemy recon plane. So on and so forth with the rest of the perks in Perk 2. Simple mathematics and logic should tell you that you are firing your weapon more than any other action in the game (besides movement).
- Stopping power cancels out Juggernaut. Since we’re talking hard core mode, Juggernaut is useless and adds little health. It still takes almost equal amounts of hits to bring someone down with Juggernaut. There have been plenty of times where I’ve killed someone using Juggernaut with 1-2 hits from the M1A1. “The best defense is a good offense.” Stronger bullets or stronger armor? Since you’re supposed to be on the offense, stronger bullets of course. Stronger bullets = faster killing = more killing = more points on the board.
Perk 3
Deep Impact – Makes most types of cover non-existent. Use this perk on any non-submachine gun. SMG rounds do not penetrate as well as rifle rounds and they also don’t deal as much damage when passing through a wall, so don’t waste this perk on SMGs. Instead, use Deep Impact with rifles and machine guns. Deep Impact allows the bullet to deal more damage (than it would without Deep Impact) after it has passed through a wall. Once you start to get more experienced, you’ll have no problem “walling” or “ghosting” people (shooting through walls). Plus, in Call of Duty 5, if you leave your crosshairs over the enemy for a split second, their name will appear in red over their head. Even if they move behind cover, you will still see their name through the wall, which tells you exactly where to shoot. You can also make accurate predictions of enemy positions using a recon plane. If you see that someone is in a building, fire off a few rounds into their suspected hiding place. Then, if you see the “x” hit mark, keep firing until they die. Deep Impact comes in handy way more than you’d think!
Steady Aim – Makes hip firing more accurate. Personally, I only use this perk with submachine guns and submachine guns only get used in small maps. Small maps means close vicinities, which is where Steady Aim soars. You practically never have to aim at anybody within ~20ft. Steady Aim gives running and gunning its name. Not having to bring the weapon up to your shoulder and aim shaves off at least 1/2 second, an eternity in FPS games. This gives you the upper hand into getting the first shot off, which greatly raises your probabilities of scoring the first hit. Scoring the first hit means they either die or get hit and become slightly disoriented, which still gives you the upper hand. Pair this with a PPSh and you have a mean combo.
Perk 3 Honorable Mentions
Second Chance – Suffers the same flaw as many of the other perks which were not mentioned; the duration of the perk is too short. This perk is only active when you’re supposed to be dead. Isn’t the point of the game NOT to die and get as many kills as possible? In Call of Duty 5, they also added the ability to revive teammates. But seriously, how often to you see a downed teammate? Most experienced players do not fall for Second Chance and will release a few extra shots after you’ve “died” just to make sure. Plus it is extremely easy to tell if someone has Second Chance equipped because they tend to soak up more rounds than normal before they drop down to the ground with their pistol.
Iron Lungs – This perk was more important in Call of Duty 4, but I believe that it holds little value in World at War. This is because Call of Duty 5 introduced sniper rifles with iron sights. Iron sights are far superior than scopes and have benefits such as no need to steady rifle, which leads to different advantages like faster follow up shots. Although scoped rifles do more damage than their iron sight counterparts, it still only takes one shot from an iron sight bolt action rifle with Stopping Power to kill a person in hard core mode. Why go through the trouble of using a scope and wasting a perk when iron sights will do just fine? Although iron sights are difficult to use, they are every bit as accurate as scopes. The only exception I would make to this rule is when playing on Seelow since the map is huge and picking out enemies can be difficult. But even still, with good eyes, iron sights are manageable.
Perk 4
Ordinance Training – Faster turret reloads means more tank shells down range. More tank shells means a higher probability of killing an enemy. Killing enemies wins the game. The coaxial machine gun is OK at best because the MG is in a fixed, forward firing position making it awkward to use at times. We are looking for perks to directly aid us in killing the enemy; moving faster (Leadfoot) or turning the turret faster (Greased Bearings) does not accomplish this. Water Cooler is useless because who is stupid enough to get on a tank machine gun? Anybody manning the machine gun on a tank is an easy, instant target with little mobility.
Well, that about sums it up. If any body has any questions, comments, or rebuttals, I’d be happy to hear and address them. Stay tuned for more Call of Duty 5 strategy posts in the future!

I think Dead Silence deserves a mention for Perk 3. Steady Aim isn’t very useful for semi-auto rifles and I don’t like to fire off semi-random shots into walls unless I’ve got an HMG/LMG. D
ead Silence helps a lot with getting the drop on an enemy and getting off the first shot which is usually a kill with a semi-auto rifle with Stopping Power.
Here’s my thing with Dead Silence – you have to be pretty close to the enemy to hear them or to have them hear you. This perk doesn’t work as well in larger maps because everybody is spread out and you’ll usually see someone before you hear them.
However, I can see it being used in smaller maps. But then again, if you can train your ear to pick out where the enemy sounds are, you’ll get the drop on them nonetheless. Dead Silence is so nobody gets the drop on you, which is fine depending on your style of play.
Dead Silence helps with both. Since you don’t hear yourself, you can hear other players more clearly. So it does help to avoid someone flanking you. But it also cuts the sound you make to other players, making it easier to sneak up on them.
Even in larger maps it helps, because you aren’t always 200m apart. It helps you close with the enemy by letting you run without attracting as much attention.
It aids in killing and surviving.
i read on a COD4 page someone suggesting overkill with two grenade launcher equipped assault rifles. seems like either asinine or brilliant. any thoughts?
It all depends on the map – and perks must be tailored accordingly.
For example, on small to medium maps, I like camo and dead silence. I can’t tell you how many kills I get running up behind someone (or just getting close), because people watch their maps looking for the orange dot.
On bigger maps, I find iron lungs and camo work best for sniping or long range kills.
What I do disagree with is the comment about bouncing betty’s being only for snipers. I use them on EVERY class – and I get between 4-6 kills nearly every game. Why? Because people like to come up behind you or run around the outside of the maps.
Placing bouncing betty’s in high traffic areas will get you a few extra kills. And to me, I’d rather have a few extra kills per game than the other perks in slot 1.
I Think that placing bettys are ok outside of snipers. but they are usually pretty easy to see and i think that it would be more usefull getting something else. also, there is no reason to get bandolier on weapons that EVERYBODY uses… especially the mg42. anyways i was also wondering why i hear alot of bad things about overkill. to me it seems pretty usefull to have a good sub machine gun to go along with your sniper if you get into a situation where your by yourself facing 2 or even 3 enemies trying to flank you.
very cool game! i love it
I was just promoted to captain and rank up with colonels and one to two star generals. I have used the mp-40 since I unlocked it. My last match I got dogs 3 times and I was playing with majors and generals. the perks I used were bouncing betty x2, double tap and of course martyrdom. I also had dual magazines I think this is the best combination for the average player because lets be honest nobody uses bolt action rifles to shoot someone 50 yards away. Ive had the game for little under a month and I been killed around 15 times with the springfield and that is because everbody is on the move. Believe me I wanted to snipe the living daylights uot of everybody because that is what I do in all of my other games (halo, gears so on) but this combination works (if youve got decent reflexes) just another point I have two thousand kills and 1200 deaths so thats got to say something
First off I will say that I play mostly Search and Destroy, so dieing less and killing fast is the name of the game, but I still play some deathmatch and free for all and war. Its hard to beat bettys because you can drop them around cornors and in hard to shoot places to kill even the people with bomb squad. I agree with stopping power in ever core match type, but the advatage in hardcore is not nearly as great. In hc you need to give overkill a look bc you can get guns that compliment each other to really tool people, not to mention then you have two guns which equals more ammo. In perk three extreme conditioning is hard to beat. you can get into the best poistion fast to rack up a few quick kill. If you get to 5 theres artillary, and with a fresh recon you may get dogs who always kill atleast 3. Now you have given you team a 100 point cushin in the first 1 1/2 min of the game. Take the high ground then and make them come to you. Marty is for people who charge into the enemy, second chance in not surprising to anyone anymore. Dead silence is certianly worth it if you play with surround sound on and I’m not a big fan of deep impact bc i dont like makeing a hot dot on the hud by pumping ammo into a wall. Your 100% right on the ord. training, noting else comes close. Over and out.
Hello. I’ve read this thread and its replies. I must say you have a very good ideas of Call of Duty. However, I do dissagree with some points. I am a gold cross (tenth prestige) on Call of Duty 4 and 2nd prestige on World at War (on my way to tenth) so I do have some expirence.
My first doubt is the need for stopping power on HC mode. It’s virtually useless because it only takes
1-2 extra bullets MAXIUMUM to kill the enemy in HC mode which can be pumped out in a heartbeat. In HC mode I stick with a semi-automatic rifle with either camoflague or sleight of hand. Overkill is also useless because switch guns if you see someone rounding a corner in HC will take valuable time and if they have a recon chances are you will get shot before you even get your weapon out. Snipers are virtually useless with stopping power in HC because they’re a one hit kill 999/1000 times. And I’m not just saying that.
I do agree however that stopping power is a must in core (normal mode) because you will always get destroyed close range versus other subs that have stopping power. STOPPING POWER should always be used on on snipers. Reason? Your trying to snipe someone and you hit them and it’s not a one hit kill, which it rarely is in core modes without stopping power. They will have already have retreated by the time you can shoot again.
I disklike LMG’s even with they’re unlimited ammo prone mount in World at War because its very hard to kill somebody close range with it even with steady aim.
BONDOLIER is a must for on the go submachine gunners. However, on maps like “Dome” and “Hangar” it will probably not be needed on the MP40 dual clip because usually have the other team has that gun which you will pick up just by walking over it. I still use it on those maps just in case though.
DEAD SILENCE is another very useful perk for submachine gunners. However I really see no since in using it on maps such as “Dome” and “Hangar” because nobody will hear anything because everything is so close together and nothing can be heard over the constant firing and accouncings of Recon Planes and Artillery strikes and most people aren’t listening but LOOKING on maps that small.
I haven’t used steady aim much because I find deep impact more usefull on subs aswell. It really helps out when you are tapping out rounds at long range immobile targets and snipers when they’re hiding behind a wall or window on maps such as “Castle” and “Roundhouse”.
I find leadfoot useful for tanks if I shoot someone that is fleeing because I can chase them around a building while reloading. Coaxial machine gun is virtually useless because it’s so weak and hard to aim. Ordanace training only seems to help if I’m trying to demolate enemy tanks because I can pump out the rounds quicker.
All and all leadfoot is better for maps like “Roundhouse” and “Outskirts” because you have more corners to turn when chasing the enemy, while ordance training is good for maps like “Seelow” because they’re are fewer corners and more enemy tanks.
Thanks to all who took they’re time to read my gargantuan post. Hope it helps. I could write more but I’m really tired. Happy ranking and better KDR’s to all!
P.S. Juggernaut is for noobs.
ok first of all eric you have down syndrome or something dead silence is the best perk in the game. i play hard core search and destroy and if you are actually good then you would know its good. i use it on all my classes. you dont need deep impact steady aim or any of that stuff. if ur apponent is good then they probably have turtle beach gameing headphones or something. if u dont know what those are then you should not play this game. simple as that.oh and if u are in a certain sitiuation the juggernaut does work unless you are standing out in the middle of the map. so ur both wrong. learn how to play the game.
“better that you”, and your KDR is what? 0.8?
I think that camouflage is great for sneaking up on players, especially the ones that have got good at sniping and camping. Equipment to carry: PPSH + bouncing betties usually works for me though I also think you have to be continually on the move outflanking the enemy so you better know your levels to avoid those happy campers!
For the same reason that you mention Juggernaut as “equivalent” in a sense to Stopping Power, it is also unnecessary in HC mode because with or without it you are going to kill your enemy pretty quick.
Camouflage definitely deserves mention. There are few things funnier than when your opponents run right past you while their UAV is up.
sorry people but im a 5th prestiger and my advice to buy search n destroy all the time! mp40 with duel mags for spraying like mad with bomb squad as perk 1 only if your rushing! perk 2 got to be juggernuat but if your feeling like using a noob tubee use fiireworks! perk 3 dead silence or steady. last but not who cares about perk 4!!
ps try and learn how 2 dropshot it is very usual and merkage
firstly, bandolier is the best ‘perk 1′, appart from maybe the flamethrower for close quaters, but saying that sometimes it sucks ass. perk 2 has to be stopping power, no questions asked. perk 3 has to either be steady aim or second chance, i mean what pisses you off more than being killed by someone with second chance?. and lastly martyrdom–its so fucking pointless, why do people have it? you quickly learn never to run over to a dead enemy lol
firstly im half way through 9th prestige so lets get this thing in order.. bomb squad is a must have, if ure always on the move u dont always have time to check the floor and if u need extra ammo..? well thats what gettin kills is for pick up there guns and replace with your pistol.
second perk. mp40 with juggernaught or camo and a silencer is one of the best styles in the game try it out you will see the results. also try getting 150 kills with ure m1 garand , u get a sniper scope which makes it 1-2 shot kill with 50 ammo w/o bandolier.
last perk. dead silence
use juggernaut and stopping power with all the cheaters out there youll need all the help you can get. cheaters suck.
Looks like there is a lot of Juggernoobs in here.
Juggernoob, Martynoob, Second chance, Noob tubes, & tanks are what the no talent a$$ clowns use because they can’t get kills without them.
Looks like there are also alot of people here who have to constantly whine about people using juggernaught or the tank. Countering nooby-ness with nooby-ness is retardation at it’s finest. Just play the game and quit cryin about what your opponent used to kill you.
If everyone is so damn good, what’s with the whining about noobs? I just bought a 360 last week after not owning a system for almost 6 years when I had the first Call of Duty, and my kill/death ratio is great without juggernaut on World at War.
There are plenty of good tips written here, but sorry whiners, enemies aren’t going to fight fair. It’s war dammit; get used to it! No one is going to willingly let you kill them. If you aren’t good enough, tough.
Everyone has their own style when playing COD5 – from who dares wins approaches, guns blazing and making a hell of a noise through to us campers holing it up and making quiet kills. For players wanting to learn to camp, the basic way is to watch your killer through his eyes (so don’t hit the square button (ok its PS3)) and then play his style somewhere else.
The advanced way is to keep an eye on the map and attempt to assess where the battle will move to, this will allow you to flank or shoot players from behind, I regularly achieve 2nd or 3rd position in a match this way.
Get the right camping spot and equipment and your K/D ration will go right up.
I cant believe nobody has mentioned the greatest attachment in the game! SILENCER !! This is vital to long killing sprees. Your are invisible on the map during blasting and the recoil is greatly reduced. This is a must! Train your self with iron sites and your field vision will increase along with your skills.Best gun for silencer is MP40, the standard clip is good for 2-3 kills before reloading. Perk 2 should never be anything but Stopping power along with Steady Aim or Extreme Condition. Keep one class with MG42 wt Stoppin and Deep Impact. No wall should keep you from firing and longer range kills seem easier with this class. Short bursts = long streaks! Have fun and dont be a dick!
I have to say that every gun in the game is good, except for maybe the shotguns because you have to be very close to get a kill, id rather just shank them in the face. Its a good idea to get used to all the weapons especially if you want to do prestige mode. I am above average with all of them, im on second prestige and I have 1.6 kill death ratio. Bolt action rifles with iron sights and stopping power really kick ass, 1 hit kill most of the time unless you end up shooting them in the legs. Its a bit hard to get used to at first but after a while you get used to it and its just as accurate as a sniper scope. My fave perks are stopping power, deep impact, steady aim for smgs. Camouflage is okay if your playing ground war because there are 18 players which means there will be lots of recon planes flying about since theres a lot more killing going on. Ordnance training or leadfoot on big maps are the only perks that should be used with a tank, the others are just poo poo. Oh yeah, bouncing betties if you are camping or bandolier if you are rushing. I find bomb squad useless because after a while it becomes second nature looking for betties and they tend to be in the same hotspots all the time.
Hey whats up, i wanna put my two cents in, i play on the ps3, and i am rank 65, waiting to get K/D ratio to 2.0 before i prestige, i moved into my apartment and was without internet for 2 months, which is why i never prestiged in january, but my favorite Perks combinations would have to be these,
for tdm i use the STG-44. with the aperture sight, and the magnum, regular grenade. and flares to piss off my neighbors from the random flash that scares the crap out of the lady next door. Camoflage, second chance, bandolier, screw the 4th perk.
but if you want a challenge, use that skill set for TDM, first off, before i had always relied on stopping power, so i sucked at first. but within 3 games, i was doing even better before, Theres nothing like staying invisible to recons and taking out the whole team as the wait for your teammates to attack. and with your whole squad with second chance, this is ideal, it builds teamwork, and in my experience shows who is gonna get your back.
for war, i use the Gwere rifle, but with stopping power and sleight of hand. easy kills, and great sights for the gun.
search and destroy is the same perk set as my TDM perk set.
i rarely play domination but if i do i use the trench gun and stopping power and sleight of hand. Personally, i do great with those sets, if you guys have A ps3, i accept any friend requests, and i have a headset. id be happy to play some rounds with some new faces, and maybe discuss our favorite perks amidst the mayhem.
My PSN id is GaininKilla
Although stopping power seems the best, in my opinion sleight of hand is underestimated. In hardcore stopping power isn’t really effective considering that you probably don’t need extra fire power to kill an enemy and in regular it still takes some annoying amount of bullets to kill a guy. With sleight of hand you can quickly empty clips and reload which is good for people who are just run and gun. I don’t know how many people I’ve killed when they were reloading. But, Sleight of Hand isn’t good for heavy machine guns or bolt action. My profile is set up as Bomb Squad (or Bandolier depending if I have the extended clip modification) , Sleight of Hand, and Extreme Conditioning/Steady AIm with usually an MP40 (extended clip) or a Geweher (with rifle grenade). I have Extreme Conditioning because that way I can keep running instead of walking when I recharge my energy. Instead of silencers I usually try to have extended clips to have more ammo when I quickly reload. Bomb squad so I don’t make foolish mistakes. Also, although not a perk, I have my sensitivity level at high or somewhere like seven – ten so that way I can quickly navigate the screen.
BETTYS DEFENSE TO FIND ENEMY LOCATION BOMB SQUAD OFFENSE STOPPING POWERW WIT EVERY GUN REGARD LESS DEAD SILENCE ALWAYS CAUSE UR LOUD ASS FUCK AND U GIVE AWAY UR PARTNERS POSITIONS RUNNING BY HE LIKE A FOOL
I am 4th prestige and i have found the ultimate class. i NEVER have gone negative with this class. Its the STG-44 with a flash hider, simple right. well add bomb squad (nothing worse then getting killed by bloody betties) its great for rushing aswell. next add double tap! it owns on the STG-44 its like a ppsh but with accuracy and no recoil, also you kill people in 1/100 of a second. 3rd perk should always be last stand.. i always get kills with this, helps in staying positive n if you can shoot quick it doesnt even matter if you have the magnum or not. ordanace training is the only vehicl perk need simple as that.
NOOBS USE THE FOLLOWING:
NOOB TUBE
TANKS
JUGGANAUGHT
If someone wants to use Juggernaut I could careless. There are way better perks out there. So if they want to handicap themselves then so be it. The b!tc# a$$ thing about Juggernaut is that it throws off your rhythm. You fire the number of bullets you expect to kill them with but surprise…they’re alive and shooting you in the head. Its not that much harder to kill someone using it if you know that they are using it. If the geeks are using it just don’t stop firing until there body hits the floor.
Leave it for the noobs. If you have prestiged remove Juggernaut from your vocabulary. But if you insist…there is nothing I love more than owning somebody who is using Juggernaut with Last Stand. PLEASE USE LAST STAND!!!!! I need the head shots.
Lets talk about game modes. Personally I only play Domination for the following reasons. There is a purpose…deathmatch lends itsself to no strategy hacks or mindless campers. HQ is fun but the spawns suck. Nothing ticks me off more than spawning infront of someone only to be blasted before finding my bearings. Domination cures both of these since hardpoints are in place and random spawns are limited. Also there is more of a perminate objective which means you can more easily predict where the action will be. Add no limit to kills which deathmatch does and you have the ultimate game mode. Incorporate the tips in my last post and you will be well on your way to becoming a COD stud. Also leave your betties at home, instead use satchel charges. Drop one on one of your controlled points wait for the “losing point A,B,or C” voiceover and double tap reload. Boom instant kill.Also great for using in a fire fight. Example your in a semiclose firefight with some1, they duck behind a wall or crate to reload. Toss a charge in there direction and make a pile of table scraps out of them. I hope this helps the people willing to listen and enjoy ur fruits of your labor. Cya on the battlefield!! XBOX360 one of course!
I play a whole lot of HARDCORE gametypes and I think the ultimate perk is Camo paired with a silencer. I say this because once the match gets goin, there is almost always an enemy recon plane in the sky, so this way you can stay off their radar and get the jump on them…especially since they’ll be going after your teammates and wont be expecting you to be right next to them.
Bandolier is a great perk too, but its a personal choice…you gotta ask yourself if you will actually use all that extra ammo or if you will die before you get a chance to.
As for the third perk, it really depends on what kind of map you’re playing. If it’s a smaller map, Dead Silence and/or Steady Aim is a good idea. If its a larger map, I tend to choose Deep Impact and/or Second Chance.
As said before by other posters, there’s really no need for Stopping Power/Juggernaut in hardcore. I’ve experimented before, with both of these perks, and it makes NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL with the number of shots it takes to kill someone on hardcore gametypes…so be smart and use a different perk for this slot.
My ideal class for hardcore TDM:
STG-44 with flash hider
magnum
frag
smoke
bandolier (STG-44 goes through ammo super fast)
camo
deep impact
(no tanks on hardcore, so whatever for perk 4)
anyway, hope this helps. happy hunting
Alright, most of the time i use Thompson/Mp40/ppsh-41 my favotiete perks for subguns is this.
Bandolier
Stopping power/double tap/juggernaut
steady aim/deep inpact
if you play hardcore u can set perk 3 to second chance if u like.
Heres the lowdown.
I played cod4 i was ranked 21th at 1 stage…
then cod5 came out and i tried it out and it was pretty good.
Nut then my perents broke up and my step dad took ma ps3 and i havnt played in a while…
But on cod 4 dead silence was usful for s and d because on cod4 the sound of foot steps was very good…
As i didnt play cod5 for that long i didnt get to test it much but i think that the sounds of opposition (and team) foot steps and other movments was considerably quieter. (maybe because its world war 2 based)
So i think that in cod5 dead silence is pointless unless u turn all ur opponants turn there sound right up!
Bouncing betties are almost a necessity for going on long kill streaks, especially if you aren’t playing hardcore. The best way to get kills is to find an easily defendable position and hold it for as long as possible. However its almost impossible to do this without bouncing betties, as its nearly impossible to guard all sides of your position.
i racon dat the best combination is bouncin bettys double tap and deep impact with da mp40 and da round drum it will beat any other combination i play snd and killin quick and not dyin when face 2 face wid some1 dis is da best and if u r gd enough u can get them futher away
Ok dudes i average 19 kills a game. Use tommy gun with round drum, bandolier, rapid fire, and steady aim. Dont need to aim and you fire so many damn bullets ur bound to hit .
for the fg42 i use slight of hand,bandalior,steady aim 4 up close add me if u got a ps3 psn id;bloodyblade45
never mind the guns etc im playing cod 5 on the wii and can not stay in a game for more than 3 minutes at a time i just keep getting disconnected it is the only online game i get this problem with can anyone help!!!!!
I think the best combination is the MP40 with the silencer, camo, deadly silence, and bouncing betties. Countless people just run right by me before I split their heads open. I do agree it works the best on small to medium maps, but it has worked well on larger maps as well. Bouncing betties are great for getting easy kills, especially when you’re trying to get the dogs. Like somebody said before, just put them in high traffic areas and you are sure to get some kills. They’re great for baiting noobs…who run right into them while they blindly chase you around a corner, lol.
in most matches i use my mp40 i get 3-5 dogs and somtimes i got massive kill streaks the perks i use are double tap,bandolier and deep impact and i got to lvl 1 prestige in 2-3 days
i like da snipe,mp40 (with sus) bouncing bettys and….
DA BLOODY GAME LOL
PPSH-41.
My favourite gun, AWRESOME, hard to fit in with perks – I have yet to find one build that successfully uses its potential, plus it’s AWRESOME!
Enough of my ranting,
-MP40 w/ silencer (or aperture if you cant adjust to sights)
-Bandolier – If you are unable to jack other dead people’s guns when you’re low, go for Bandolier
*If you shoot like mad (that would be me), or simply under-use the knife (which gets me 25% of my kills, and is such an underappreciated weapon of mass destruction. Seriously, how many times did someone kill you when you shoot them in the back, and they kill you and live with only a bloody-lookin screen and a pounding heart Knife doesnt allow them to shoot back. Plain and simple) go for Bandolier. Pistols can get you 2-4 kills when you’re out of primary gun ammo, but the extra bandolier ammo really helps. BB’s and Grenades are gud too I guess.
-Stopping power- Cancels out Juggernaut, if anyone’s dumb enough to use it, stops people from getting a chance to hit you with teh 1-2 hit killness and saves ammo. Wowza. And its a perk yuou start with!
-Perk 3 is completely optional, depending on your stlye of play. Of my 10 custom classes, 5 are the MP40 with the only difference being perk 3′s. So dont flip if your favourite perk isnt here.
*Steady Aim is pointless while aiming down the sights, but great when you’re wasting clips through walls in a berserk or drunken rage (that may just be me) or when you want to be mobile. Again, if you aim down the sights, dont bother with Steady Aim. If you run into a guy face first and for whatever reason dont knife him, this will save your ass.
*However, if you waste clips through walls in the aforementioned way, be sure that it’s a wall you CAN shoot through, or you look like an idiot. Deep Impact is ONLY better if you do this type of ghosting. Bolt action rifles that arent sniping at someone will have little use in this if you dont get a one hit kill, and you cant find the guy you shot at. You shoot once, hit the guy, see the crossbar, shoot again, dont see a crossbar, lose a free kill. Machine guns can continue randomly shooting until the game tells you you’re hitting someone.
If you’ve made it this far, you’re a lawyer, bored, or I’m more helpful then I thought.
Mp40 Stopping power, betty x2, Steady Aim come see me G tag=carefreesyler
I use second chance quite a bit. I like denying kills to my opponents by rezzing the halfdeads. Wounded soldiers in my CoD5? It’s more likely than you think. Basically it boils down to this. If you can get the kills with the way you play then you’re doing what works for you.
I play strictly core game modes, i only recommend jug if you a. have an mp40 (cause its so overpowered), or b. have an insanely fast trigger finger (or a mod) with rifles. Stick to bomb squad or bazookas. bazookas are a great way to pick up a couple of easy kills, and well, betties just suck. For your third perk, use either dead silence (great for search and destroy) or steady aim (for all you sprayers). If your just messin around; heres a ninja class that i use for knifing only, bomb squad (you do lots of flanking, flanking = betties), camo or jug depending on preference, and dead silence.
you know camouflage, does it stop you appearing as an orange dot on somebody’s map when you fire your weapon or just when some sends out a recon plane for their 3 kill streak?
what you should do is use an MP40 (silenced) & make sure you use Camouflage. I know that keeps you Concealed but i don’t know what does that, it might be the Supressor but yet again it might be the Camouflage.
If you want to win….Follow these steps.
Step 1 : Drink highly caffinated Beverage..I prefer coffee
Step 2: Plug in Game Headphones as most people run wildly without dead silence equiped.
Step 3: Research ALL your Maps like your looking at Porn. Like GI Joe said……Knowing your map is half the battle.
Step 4: When game starts: Run straight to your Map Hot spot and wait for someone to run by you….Knife them. Place Betty ….as the idiot will run back to get revenge.
Step 5 : Learn to crawl as……most people run …..this is the best perk in the game………well its not a perk……its just a better way to play…..example……..Find the sniper Hot spots that every one runs to…..now crawl and make sure you have second chance & flak jacket….as people like to toss grenades first then they run in like fools only to be guned down like mindless slaves.
Step 4:
i use the
* Primary: MP40 w/ Dual Magazines
* Side Arm: .357 Magnum
* Grenade: Frag
* Special Grenade: Smoke
* Perk 1: Bomb Squad
* Perk 2: Camouflage
* Perk 3: Steady Aim
* Vehicle Perk: Ordnance Training
and i don’t know if people can see me on their map and it’s really bugging me now so plz will someone tell me if Camouflage stops me appearing as an orange dot
I play primarily hardcore, so stealth is usually more important than bullet damage (since all guns kill in 1-3 shots).
This setup is really good (for hardcore).
Weapon: Gewehr43 + Suppressor (better than flash hider). Since G43 is the only rifle that can use suppressor, it is the stealth rifle choice in hardcore since suppressor > flashhider. We like rifles because it can be used from very very very very far away. Even with suppressor i kill a guy all the way across upheaval in 3 shots. BTW the best pistol is Nambu. All the pistols are the same anyway except magnum so the one with the shortest reload is best. But if you can aim Nambu can kill just as fast and in the same number of shots as magnum. Plus it has 2 more rounds. THere’s some people saying Nambu’s sights are unaligned or something, but honestly i can’t really see a difference.
Perk 1: bomb squad (since i’m always on the move. If you stay at one place you’re bound to die. it is also important because you don’t want to set off the opponent’s betties so he knows immediately where you are. Bandolier is not really required since the first thing i do when i kill someone is trade my pistol for his gun. Plus you almost never run out of bullets anyway).
Perk 2: Camo (since kills in 1-2 shots anyway, better not have any recon plane seeing you. you can’t believe how much people depend on recon planes they look at the minimap more than they look at the screen. Overkill is a waste because you can just pick up someone else’s gun. Plus the time it takes for you to change weapons is more than enough for the other guy to kill you. remember it’s hard core).
Perk 3: dead silence (The footsteps in cod5 are much softer, but some tricky people, snipers usually, learn to listen for smg gunners that try to sneak up on them. Especially in houses with the hollow floors it’s impossible to sneak up on someone that’s listening. it also lets you hear other people. Deep impact is also good, but on hardcore (no minimap unless recon plane) how many times do you see a guy behind a wall? Sure there were times i wish i had deep impact but it’s uses are too limited. Besides the gewehr shoots through most surfaces and kills fast anyways in hardcore. Steady aim is not necessary because if you’re in close range one shot kills anyway).
4th perk…well i would say people who use tanks are noobs but if you have to choose one i guess ordinance training for those open maps and leadfoot for maps with a lot of corners.
Now with that setup you can just hide someplace, pick off a few guys (who won’t know how they died), move on to another place, and repeat the process.
Hope i helped.
P.S. PPSH IS BEAST
Oh and to Mr. in need of help Camo DOES stop you from showing up as a red dot on their screen. (wasn’t that in the description?)
thanks, Rofwafl. yes it was but i thought it might have been true because
in small maps no one found me even tho i was shooting like crazy without a suppressor. but i cracked it now.
* MP40 w/ Suppressor
* .357 Magnum
* Frag
* Smoke
* Bomb Squad
* Double Tap
* Steady Aim
* Ordnance Training
it kills enemies as fast as you can say “wow” (literally it can in Team Deathmatch) and i love the look of the gun, it’s kinda like a mini submarine if u think about it but any way the ammo lasts long enough and bomb squad is ir your like me, you love to kill enemies with their own betties! (really pisses them off!) double tap just makes it kill sooooo fast and the Steady aim is to get headshots from the hip (easy if u try, aim at the throat & the recoil does it for u!) & the Suppressor kepps u off the radar!
if you need some help then just simply follow these rules:
For small maps either use that lass above:-
* MP40 w/ Suppressor
* .357 Magnum
* Frag
* Smoke
* Bomb Squad
* Double Tap
* Steady Aim
* Ordnance Training
Make sure you crawl and stay in the shadows so no one sees or hears you, that way you can streak easily and rack up points fast.
For big maps use:-
* Type 99 w/ Bipod
* Colt M1911
* Frag
* Tabun Gas
* Bouncing Betty x2
* Stopping Power
* Steady Aim
* Ordnance Training
This kills fast as hell! i think it’s 3 shots on rapid fire and 4 shots if you use it as a rifle (tap the trigger instead of holding it down to shoot into small spaces to shoot out snipers or campers). And my last piece of advice would be always use Colt’s when using the Stopping Power perk up close it only takes 2 shot’s to kill them but on a long shot it takes quite a few.
I like MP40 doubletap.
